Michy Batshauyi has killed two birds with one stone by joining Borussia Dortmund – the Chelsea loanee now has a starting role, and redemption on Fifa 18.
The 24-year-old striker had a dream debut for Dortmund with two goals in a vital 3-1 victory over bottom-of-the-Bundesliga Cologne on Friday night.
Batshuayi, who arrived from Chelsea on loan as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed for Arsenal, turned provider for the winner in an outstanding debut which should give the Belgian plenty of confidence.
And Batshuayi has been rewarded by EA Sports – the developers of Fifa 18 – with a place in the Fifa Ultimate Team of the Week. After his bow for Dortmund, Batshuayi revelled in a new score of 85 on Twitter and a place in EA’s XI alongside the likes of Arsenal duo Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey, who starred in the Gunners’ 5-1 demolition of Everton.
Batshuayi was distinctly unimpressed with EA back in August after his rating dropped from Fifa 17 to Fifa 18 from 81 to 80 (out of a possible 99).
EA replied to his demand to “PLEASE EXPLAIN” on Twitter by telling the striker to “keep scoring goals” if he wanted to rise up the digital ranks.Batshauyi scored a creditable 10 goals in 25 appearances for the Chelsea this season, but left on loan to join Dortmund after it became clear Antonio Conte did not trust the Belgian to lead his front line.
And the switch to Germany is at least earning him recognition elsewhere than Stamford Bridge, with Batshuayi telling German Eurosport: “I am very happy with my two goals but of course the most important thing today is the win.
“It was the first game, it was not easy. I’m just happy about these three points. We want to climb as high as possible in the table and try to win every match.”
